Good to know

This 1970s remodel is a perfect mix of cabin charm and modern, fresh decor. With an electric fireplace, comfy couch, and large TV in the living room, you can snuggle in and enjoy a 90s rom-com or read some old-school Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The two bedrooms are right off the living room—one with a queen bed and the other with two twins, so you can all dream in close-ish comfort. The kitchen, with brand-new stainless steel appliances—including a gas stove—has absolutely everything you need to make a full meal, even a waffle maker and pancake griddle for your Sunday morning brunching pleasure. You’ll find the bathroom bright and peaceful, a perfect place to read the morning news and rinse off your post-hike sweat. Recently added is "Bobbers Den" a modern shed converted to a Kids Fort right in the back yard, it is set with a climbing wall, hanging chairs, games, and more! With beautiful views of the surrounding pines and aspens, the back deck is the perfect place to start and end your days. Sip your coffee and contemplate life or enjoy an adult beverage and great conversation around the fire pit. Regardless, the fresh Colorado air will do you good!

Other Details to Note

Cautionary Notes (Please Read)! We do NOT accept check in or check out on holidays. Absolutely NO open fires are allowed. The risk of wildfire in the area is too high. The gas firepit is available when there is no fire ban. If there is a fire ban, the firepit will be removed. You will be asked to leave immediately if there is any fire activity. The roads require AWD or 4WD for November through April (however it can snow in October and in May!). The roads are plowed after 6 inches of snow. You do not need a 4WD or AWD in the summer but be aware that the dirt roads in the neighborhood are bumpy! Pets This is a pet-friendly listing for pets who qualify. At this time we only allow dogs at this house. Please message us before booking for our pup policy to see if your dogs qualify. There is an additional fee for bringing a pet to cover the cleaners’ extra time to keep the space fresh for future guests. There is no air conditioning unit here. It is very rare in our county to have one installed in a house (even brand new builds!). The nights are cool in the summer so to cool the house off you can open all the windows and doors at night, then close them during the day and you stay cool! There are fans provided to help blow the cool air through the cabin. We are at 9,200 feet in elevation — altitude sickness can occur but you can do things to prevent it and alleviate symptoms including, taking a day to rest when you arrive, drink extra water and stay well hydrated (avoiding alcohol will help). When you are on the back deck it feels very secluded but from the front deck, you can see the neighbors. It is a quiet and peaceful area.

My little family stayed here and had a great time! My kids loved the kids fort and it was the perfect get away. Had absolutely zero service unless connected to the wifi which I loved because I wanted it to be a weekend away from reality with the family!

The Whimsical Cabin is the perfect place to unwind and relax. This location offers a private get away hidden within a beautiful forest that is still within a reasonable driving distance to multiple State Parks, restaurants and Attractions. While staying here I was able to hike Muellers State Park, Pike's Peak, Eleven Mile State Park as well as visit the amazing art installation, "Rita the rock planter" in Cripple Creek. I would highly recommend this stay if you're in need of a break from the city life and are looking to enjoy scenic drives and all the beautiful natural surroundings Colorado has to offer. Absolutely loved my stay here. Thank you, Marlena.
